Team profile

The Dominican Republic won their spot for the event in Rosario and Santa Fe, Argentina after rallying from two sets down to edge the United States for the gold medal at the U18 NORCECA Girls’ Continental Championship held in Puerto Rico in 2016

It was the second consecutive continental title in the age group competition for the Dominican side which had dethroned the United States two years earlier when the tournament took place in San Jose, Costa Rica.

It will be the seventh appearance for the Dominican Republic team at the U18 world championship with its better positions three eighth places in 2001, 2007 and 2013 when the event took place in Croatia, Mexico and Thailand, respectively.

The Dominican female volleyball program continues supplying talented players to the youth and junior teams and Brazilian coach Alexandre Ceccato is confident about his squad to scale a team-best in the history of the world competition.
