Karakurt shone with 25 points of her own, including the final ace to wrap up the match. Derya Cebecioglu chipped in with 11 tallies, the same total than Dominican captain Natalia Martinez. However, the top scorer on the Caribbean side was Madeline Guillen, who collected 19 points.

It was a true attacking duel at the first set, with Turkey stepping forward due to a lower error rate on that area. The 25-21 for the Europeans was a wakeup call for Dominican Republic, as Guillen carved the way to the 25-18 and the 1-set tie, but the match regained its course and Turkey was relentless for a massive 25-16. Dominican Republic tried to react, but Karakurt kept rolling and Cebecioglu contributed to finish the game 25-14.
