Santa Fe counting down to U18 World Champs

 

Official launch press conference Girls' U18 World Championship in Santa Fe

Santa Fe, Argentina, August 2, 2017 – Argentina’s volleyball community is eagerly awaiting the start of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship that will take place in the cities of Santa Fe and Rosario from August 18-27. 

On Tuesday Santa Fe had their first taste of what to expect when the Social Development Minister of the Province of Santa Fe, Jorge Alvarez; the Sports Development Secretary of Santa Fe, Pablo Catan; and the vice president of the Argentine Volleyball Federation (FeVA), Fabian Bochatay launched its tournament presentation at the headquarters of the Sports Development Secretariat of Santa Fe.


Twenty teams will compete to try and follow Italy’s class of 2015, who won gold in Peru two years ago. 

Hosts Argentina lead the way in Pool A, where they are joined by Slovenia, South Korea, Germany and Cuba. Italy begin their defence of the title in Pool C, against Serbia, Poland, Colombia and Thailand. 

Pool B pits the United States against Brazil, Russia, Belarus and Mexico. In Pool D China face Turkey, Japan, Peru and the Dominican Republic. 

Pools A and B will take place at The National Technological University in Santa Fe, while Pools C and D will play out in the Newell’s Old Boys Arena in Rosario. 

Pool A: Argentina, Slovenia, South Korea, Germany and Cuba
Pool B: United States, Brazil, Russia, Belarus and Mexico
Pool C: Italy, Serbia, Poland, Colombia and Thailand
Pool D: China, Turkey, Japan, Peru and Dominican Republic
