Pietrini not only led the scorers of Italy v Poland but also topped the list of the competition so far
Rosario, Argentina, August 20, 2017 - At the most fascinating game in Rosario so far, Poland and Italy played a nail-biting five-setter and the latter emerged as winners 3-2 (22-25, 25-16, 25-20, 23-25, 15-12) thanks to a superb production of their wing-spiker Elena Pietrini.

Pietrini showed once again her talents as she uncorked 34 points, being 5 blocks, 5 aces and 24 successful spikes. Terry Enweonwu chipped in with 16 and the number was 12 from both Marina Lubian and captain Alessia Populini. Poland had in Zuzanna Gorecka and Oliwia Baluk their best scorers, with 13 tallies each.
While the stands of Newell’s Old Boys Stadium kept filling, Poland rapidly escaped 5-0 in the first set and resisted the Italian attempts to bag it 25-22. Italy wasted no time as Pietrini built a comfortable 25-16, Enweonwu then joined to push her side forward 25-20 and that opened the way to a thrilling fourth set, won by Poland 25-23 after a nice final track from Italy. Keeping the emotions high, Pietrini completed her amazing game towards a final score of 15-12.
