Italy unstoppable at U18s in the Netherlands

 

Italy celebrate a point in their match against Turkey

Arnhem, Netherlands, April 4, 2017 - After a rest day on Monday, the 2017 CEV U18 Volleyball European Championship – Women resumed with some exciting results as Russia earned their first points by ending Bulgaria's winning streak.

The third match day in Pool I was closed with Italy claiming a third success in a row and a happy Germany, who celebrated their first hurrah to shock hosts the Netherlands.

Pool II produced an overwhelming victory for Belarus, who now need just one more win to secure a ticket to the semifinals of the 2017 CEV U18 Volleyball European Championship – Women.

However, the standings behing them promise a remarkable finish on Thursday, when the preliminary round will come to an end. Just three points separate the teams from Poland (2nd), Romania (3rd), Serbia (4th) and Slovenia (5th).

The top six from the 2017 CEV U18 Volleyball European Volleyball Championship – Women will compose the European contingent for the 2017 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship due to take place from August 18 – 27 in Rosario and Santa Fe, Argentina.

Russia v Bulgaria

Turkey v Italy
Italy are unstoppable! The Azzurrine continued their impressive show of strength claiming their third consecutive victory of the 2017 CEV U18 Volleyball European Championship – Women by beating Turkey in straight sets 3-0 (25-11, 25-23, 25-22).

Germany v Netherlands
Germany versus the Netherlands. If there is one matchup in sport that needs no introduction, it’s this classic battle between two neighbours. And Germany are back in business after showing their best #EuroVolleyU18W performance to add the first three points to their tally following a 3-1 (29-27, 25-20, 22-25, 25-16) win.

Poland v Serbia
Serbia made an important step at the #EuroVolleyU18W and defeated their opponents from Poland 3-1 (25-7, 20-25, 25-14, 25-21).

Belarus v Slovenia
The pool leaders and still undefeated and Belarus are on their way to claiming a spot in the #EuroVolleyU18W semifinals after they celebrated a 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-12, 25-15) win over Slovenia.

Greece v Romania
Greece remain the team that still have no points at the 2017 CEV U18 Volleyball European Championship – Women after a 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 25-22, 25-19) defeat to Romania.
