Rosario, Argentina, August 18, 2017 - Supported by the efforts of Aleksandra Gryka and Zuzanna Gorecka, Poland emerged as winners at a rollercoaster game over Colombia 3-0 (25-23, 25-7, 27-25), opening Pool C action at Rosario venue on Friday afternoon.

Gryka and Gorecka gathered 12 and 11 points respectively, while captain Oliwia Baluk backed them up with 10 of her own. Poland also subdued Colombia by a comfortable 14-3 on aces, but the South American side won the blocking battle with 9-5 numbers.
Although Poland had a high error rate on the first set, Baluk and Gryka did well for a nail-biting 25-23. Colombia felt the hit and faced a huge disadvantage right after, a 10-1 that transformed into an enormous 25-7, and tried next with some rock-solid blocks that slowed down their rivals, but it wasn’t enough. Poland tied the score on 23-23 after being down 21-17 and darted to the win by 27-25 with an ace by Gryka.
