Germans get the second victory in another five-setter

 

German players celebrate their victory over Slovenia after a long match played on Monday night at the National Technological University in Santa Fe.

Santa Fe, Argentina, August 21, 2017 - Germany clinched their second win in a five-setter by beating Slovenia 19-25, 25-15, 25-12,18-25 and 15-10 in Pool A.


Emma Cryis scored 19 points as top scorer, followed by Luisa Theresa Keller, with 17. Lina Alsmeier also contributed to the German cause with 12 units, while Josepha Bock closed with 10.

Slovenia had also four players with double digits. Tali Lekse, Nika Cigale, Brina Bracko and Alja Jerala tallied 11 apiece. Services were tied between both squads with eight aces apiece, while the Germans worked better with their block (11-8). 

The third match of Day 4 celebrated at the National Technological University Stadium, was a great physical challenge for both squads. The Germans who were off on Sunday could solve it after 1 hour and 52 minutes.

A total of 13 sets has been played by Germany since the beginning of the tournament, with only one defeat against hosts, Argentina.
